Appearance

Purpleheart appears as a dull gray/purple brown wood when freshly cut and, after exposure, its color naturally darkens to resemble eggplant purple. With age and exposure to UV rays, the typically straight-grained wood with excellent natural luster takes on a dark brown hue with a subtle hint of deep purple.

Resistance

Highly durable and resistant to decay, Purpleheart is hardy and inherently long-lasting.

Scent

Depending on the variety of the Purpleheart species, the majority have no scent, while a few have a pungent natural aroma.
